Why are we Housing our Helpers?

Our community is experiencing not only a housing crisis but a behavioral health crisis. As a result of those compounding issues, the members of our unhoused community that require behavioral health support, are the most impacted. To help them, there are a number of nonprofit organizations that staff professional case workers. Our community relies on them to direct our underserved community to the services and support that both helps them and our community.

Sadly, the cost of housing here is making it nearly impossible to retain behavioral health case workers who provide the support our unhoused community needs. As a result, those members of our community are seeing less and less support for their specific behavioral health and medical needs. This leads to an increased health risk for them and puts strains on other service providers, while also adding to our homeless population. This also makes it more and more difficult to support them in a time of need.

We want to partner with landowners and property owners to find housing for these case workers, so our community and the most vulnerable, are supported.

Our community relies on these health care professionals, yet we cannot house them.

If you have rental property and if you would consider renting to a working professional in an agency most directly involved in helping the unhoused get housing and stay housed, then please reach out!

Housing our Helpers is also interested in working directly with city and county stakeholders to find funding and incentives that could support those property owners who are able to support these case workers with affordable housing.
